Motor Trend Editor in Chief Angus MacKenzie LOLs on Twitter over the TTAC-Jalopnik Lutz Race drama. What Angus doesn’t realize is that our contract with GM obligates us to a minimum of one pre-stunt controversy. C’mon Angus, you run the most sold-out car rag on the planet. You should know how these things work!

Any truth to the rumor about the winner of this year’s MT “Car Of The Year“?
Funny stuff there, Comedian!
MotorTrend is where I turn to whenever I need comprehensive, incisive, timely and critical information having anything to do with the automotive world.
Not.
Wait, you signed up for the MT editor’s tweets?
picard234: I’m glad you asked. Here’s my personal Twitter disclosure:
I occasionally tweet big stories on TTAC’s official account. I do a few twitter searches per day, sniffing for stories. I once registered for a personal Twitter account, stared at it for about 20 seconds and then promptly deleted it.
Who is ‘pompous’ and who is ‘juvenile’?
Oh wait, aren’t MT the guys who voted that Chev Caprice (you know which one) Car of the Year? Those guys?
As a friend of mine says…I’ve been called worse by better people.
Jealousy an be a very entertaing spectator sport.
I read MT at the doctor’s office to relax before having my blood pressure checked. It works.
You know what’s pompous AND juvenile? Using Twitter.
Well, it appears that Angus MacKenzie does read TTAC, so read this: I will not renew my subsciption to your shitty magazine when it expires. You people are a joke and have no room to make any other auto website/publication. Piss off MacKenzie.
Notice how GM is turning to new media, a couple of car blogs, for a high profile promotional event, and didn’t use the traditional buff books.
This is just sour grapes from legacy media.
Sorry to say it, but his twit is spot on.

I read it to relax my bowels before my visit to the colon doctor. It works.
Long-time lurker, first-time commenter here.
I too find that twit to be both funny and accurate, and I have to applaud TTAC for posting it; doing so reduces your pompousness greatly. Jalopnik on the other hand is still pretending this is a private race between Maximum Bob and themselves.
Who’s pompous and who’s juvenile? Oh please, please, please, let us be pompous.
Which is the pompous one and which is the juvenile one, according to MacKenzie?
Justin: does it matter?
Interesting stuff. I’m glad M/T likes to share opinions.
I’m not exactly sure what pompous means, and I could use a little clarity on juvenile.
Is pompous….full of oneself?Arrogant?
Juvenile….um irresponsible?
I’ll have to say TTAC does get arrogant on an alomst daily basis. I don’t even know anything about Japo…I just visited the site, and they are juvenile.
Now for my take on M/T….they is very um…..inconsistent….”Public Relations” stunt, c’mon. Public victimization stunt (the egotistic, materialistic, misguided public.)
Does anyone over 17 post on jalopnik? Just wonderin…
haha, I’d have to say that raises my opinion of MT. Accurate and funny, ball-busting done right.
“Pompous” is way off the mark. The WSJ hit the target by labeling TTAC “acerbic.“
If TTAC is pompous, and Jalopnik is juvenile, I guess that makes MT what? Unctuous? Obsequious?
Smarmily self-important, I think is what I’m staying with.
Is anyone else having trouble getting comments to appear?
I think we’re juvenile. At least I am.
I used to read Motor Trend… then I switched to Charmin.
Angus, like Rupert, is now a “naturalised” American having given up his Australian citizenship.
You’re welcome to him (them).
That sound you hear is a dinosaur in a peat bog cursing the mammals watching him die.
Motor Trend thinks they are Above the Fray. The truth is, they are Out of the Loop and Irrelevant!
Whatever. I like MT. They are way better than they used to be. Good content, and far better than what C&D has become…thin, forced, utterly lacking in creative juices or originality, a far cry from what they used to be.
Man, I never realized TTAC was pompous! Time to break out the top hat and the monocle!
“Do you have any Grey Poupon?”
“But of course.”
Jack B., that’s a great comment. I think all car manufacturers and publishers/editors should read TTAC. Not everything presented here might be true, or even if true it might not be presented in the best way, but at least it offers a different point of view, some food for thought. That can be priceless.
To quote Q:
“It’s difficult to work in a group when you’re omnipotent.”
