The V35 Skyline was rebadged as the Infiniti G35 in the US. So technically he is right.
A G35 sedan with the JDM Skyline 350GT badges. They just forgot the Nissan badge.

Though odds are good that it is nothing but a trim job, I’d look under the hood before I raced him for pink slips.
As a general rule it’s the q-ships ya gotta worry about. But there are those who are just twisted enough to build something in a way that you just know it has to be a poseur mobile.

It appears to be a USDM spec Infiniti G35, which is closest to the JDM Skyline 350GT.
In Japan the Infiniti Gxx is the Nissan Skyline, and that generation was available with 2.5L, 3.0L, and 3.5L engines… so no one’s pretending that this is a more powerful car than it really is.

I’m also a fan of JDM badges when it means getting a name instead of alphanumeric gibberish.

Yep, it’s definitely an Infiniti in my book, the tail lamps are different to the JDM, and so is the numberplate cut-out. I cracks me up that people do this, over here we get people with JDM Nissans that put Infiniti badges on them! Just stupid!
Some character around here is driving around in a Nissan sedan with right hand drive – biggish, 70’s looking car. Maybe he was stationed in Yokosuka and brought it back.

Which names carry some street-cred?
Yep. I did that to my FedEx truck when I hit a deer and took out the Freightliner grille. I don’t know that I would have spent the money otherwise, but it was very cool and I got alot of compliments on it.
Street cred is important, but most contractors around here would opt for Dodge, simply to avoid scaring off customers who perceive they are paying Mercedes labor rates.
So this is what would happen if Infiniti didn’t name their cars by their nomenclature.

Not bad, but I bet I could take him in my Hyundai 550 Barchetta.
Like the Skyline too but without neons (same goes for NOS) for me.. not a fan of that kinda stuff. Performance parts/tuning is another matter however biggrin.gif The first infiniti car I bought was a thrashed and damaged Skyline ER34 25GT-T. Then I sold that for nest egg money and when I turned 19 I invested into a ‘94 Integra Type R. I crashed that, and bought a 4-door Skyline HCR32 GTE and swapped out motor for an RB-25DE.
If it was a GTE then it would’ve been an HR32, not HCR, the C denotes Hicas, which wasn’t available on the RB20E GTE. I’m surprised that you did an engine swap on it, could you not find a GTS-25?
Ah…I love the “Skyline” nameplate. I don’t know why Nissan is trying to get rid of it. Last time I heard Nissan was trying to phase it out (starting with the GT-R) and then institute the Infiniti brand in Japan. Meh.
I wish most of those names to would come back, “Vigor” is another favorite.

I don’t know of any plans to get rid of the Skyline name. Yes, the GT-R is now it’s own brand, but that’s got more to do with increasing the value of the badge, not letting it get “Dragged down” by being associated with the likes of a (relatively) cheap 250GT Skyline Sedan. I’m not aware of any plans to re-introduce Infiniti to Japan (this was done with the G50 Q45 before).
Shouldn’t you guys blank out the license number for these cars? Don’t want to make someone a target for thieves, vandals, or droolers.

I chose an ’03 G35 sedan over an ’01 S4. Both automatics at the same price. Brilliant car, great value and reliability. I instantly felt the 20 extra hp/ tq and loved the gearing of the 5 spd auto. It’s light for a rear drive sedan too. (FYI – if the S4 was a manual, I would have grabbed it instead.) But no regrets here!
Yeah, sorry to be another slightly topic-shifting poster, but there’s a shiny new H. Genesis around here – Waltham, MA – wearing a Bentley badge. A real one. Must’ve been the “holiday gift”.
I’ve seen a number of these rebadged Infinitis around, mostly G coupes though, not sedans. Glorified Nissans, apparently, are the most popular candidates for a rebadge, but I’ve seen a Lexus GS rebadged Toyota Aristo, though I wonder if the owner realizes that, in a sense, he’s going downmarket.
You can tell by looking through the window that it’s obviously a left-hand drive, so that should qualify it for the ‘riced’ exemption.
