I apologize for the late hour of this Clue. I work rather, um, organically, and often don’t decide until late in the day or even in the morning what CC I’m in the mood to do. Today’s Corvair inspired this, although I don’t think that’s much of a clue.

I too thought Pontiac 6000 or STE, but also EXP/LN7, and Escort/Lynx GT, or Mustang or Turbo Coupe, then Grand National/GNX or Baretta, and then something like one of the Luminas or a Pontiac Transport or Fiero … I remember these lights … but from where … they seemed overgrown because they were not flush … the chrome strip is elusive … my mind’s eye seems blind this morngin … ack … I give up!
Does this mean I was the first? :OD
(btw, on this computer, the “chrome” strip does not look as bright as it did on the computer I was using yesterday … and now it definitely looks like the EXP lamp as I remember it.)
Something in my brain says Mercury, but model and vintage draws a blank.

The tail lamp is from a Ford car. The “Ford” oval is in the low right corner.

Although that does appear to be the left side of the Ford oval I think it’s a scratch. I don’t ever remember Ford putting the oval on the paint like this.
I say Chevrolet Beretta, not sure of the model year because I think they all looked the same.
It’s not paint….it’s a red plastic “reflector” and that IS a Ford symbol….I’m saying it is a Probe, 1st gen..
Ford EXP.
Yup, that has the look of the taillight of the Ford EXP / Mercury LN7. If so, the article should be interesting — what a dud of a car.
Yeah, looks like a Ford EXP. I don’t remember these cars being all that bad, a friend bought an Escort GT about the same time I bought a CRX, and it seemed like a decent ride and I seriously considered the EXP, except for that funky front end styling.

looks like a curbside beater to me, not a classic.
Never new anyone who owned an EXP or LN7 that was able to avoid the dreaded timing belt meltdown between 60-70k miles…
Then none of your acquaintences followed the service manual which called for replacement at 60k miles.
