Oh dear, that rear overhang deserves its own ZIP code.

Dammit: they had to pick the ugly generation to bring the sportswagon?

Dammit: they had to make it automatic-only?

Dammit: they had to make it FWD only?

Dammit: (borrowing from sitting@home) they had to give its rear overhang its own zip code?

    Dammit!

Well, they’ve finally toned down the beak. It never really looked bad on the TSX anyway, but it’s apparently morphing into a small chrome bar on an otherwise normal grille. So much for bold styling, but whatever.

The rear overhang doesn’t bother me. It’s a wagon and it looks like there’s a lot of room in the back.

It’d be nuts to bring anything other than the 4-cylinder/5AT combo here, unless it really becomes a smash hit. It’s a perfectly adequate powertrain. Honda doesn’t really do the special order thing, so unless they’re going to sell enough of a particular combination to make it worth the cost, they don’t generally bother.

Well, the beak (ugly still, but less ugly than other Acuras) is the only thing that differentiates it from the Euro-spec Accord wagon. They have to have *some* unique content so that they can’t be accused of GM-style brand engineering, right?

Acura doesn’t exist anywhere that the Euro Accord is sold. You either get this car as an Accord or as a TSX, but not both. I don’t think anyone would suggest that this is “badge engineering”. I wouldn’t say that of the new Buick Regal either. Not every brand exists in every market.

I agree about the beak…it’s at least tolerable when it’s toned down, still not my cup of tea though. That being said, I like the wagon.

Looks like a chrome shortage, to me. They must have used it all up with last year’s models.

Sooo much better looking than the godforsaken hunchback Crosstour…but premium pricing, and an auto-trans and (barely adequate for the class) 4cyl only??

Is there NOTHING Honda can’t screw up these days? Man, it’s just disappointment followed by disappointment with these guys lately.

Same logic here, the looks is there. Now honda needs to stop fooling around. They have manual transmission, diesel engine and 4 wheels drive at hand so why are they waiting for? Are they really thinking that we will buy the Grossturd(crosstour) instead? Or some other fat trucklets?(please don’t answer that one…i know…it’s depressing)

Seems to me, wagon people are often snow belters and outdoorsy types, and more than a fair share are manual people as well. And Honda still builds manuals the others can’t touch….

So, while the FWD/Auto may well be the biggest potential seller, the difference between it and the others in the wagon, would likely be a lot smaller than for the sedan. Without putting the others out there, Honda will never know. Perhaps they will figure a way to put SH-AWD in the TSX. One could always hope…..

With the Outback becoming an SUV, BMW and MB both dropping their midsize wagons in the US, and Volvo and Saab going who knows where, one would think now would be a good time to get into whatever wagon business there is.

Honda used to build boringly styled, but really technically excellent cars. Now they build really ugly oversized cars.

From the right angles, it reminds me of a Saab. And what’s with the no manual gearbox deal?

It would seem that the TSX Sport Wagon is playing catch-up in a loser’s game. Acura’s tagline of “Advance” really hasn’t meant anything in the past few years, and this sadly is more of the same.

As others have said, this offers no real benefit or advantage over the competition (and speaking of which, what is the competition – the Crosstour?!) other than cargo space. There’s no doubt this vehicle will feel sluggish, difficult to control and measure, and shame its “sport” moniker.

With the ZDX (you can kind of see it in the background), it’s questionable as to which they want to succeed – sadly, I have a feeling the TSX Sport Wagon is too little, too late, and will soon occupy that strange space between success and failure – I think it’s called mediocrity.

“Acura: Mediocrity” – sounds, a little too right.

Hey it looks like an Audi.

oh wait, I just said the same thing under the WRX photos…

The Acura is much better looking than either the BMW or Audi and here in Connecticut the latter are as common as dirt, only not so reliable.

Gotta have a manual though, like my Aerodeck.

I’m hoping they sell like hotcakes so I can find one for my wife on the slightly-used market in 2 years. Overall I think they hit a great balance with better reliability than the Germans and it still looks like a sports wagon (that’s directed at the Subaru Outback/sans Legacy wagon.)

They made the back uglier too! Go check out the back of the Euro Accord version. It went from angular to bulbous.

People will use the ugly nose, lack of diesel, lack of manual transmission and FWD-only layout as an excuse not to buy.

But the truth is, no one was going to buy this anyhow.

I want a car I can see out of without straining. And if I can’t get a stick, I’m not buying it .

Which would you rather see on the road: This or a ZDX?
