Even though the tail lights appear red when off, I know those blinkers flash orange (because they’re in Europe), but in the US they still flash red. Big safety issue for all those cheapskate car companies!
The safety issue is that Red is for brake lights. Amber is for turn signals. A lot of car companies sell cars in NA with red turn signals. I refuse to buy a car that doesn’t come with amber rear turn signals. Luckily VW is equipping the current Jetta wagons with amber, but the sedans are coming with red signals. Makes no sense to me and pisses me off.
Have you ever seen a VW Bus? – it had a logo as big as a dinner plate. Since VW has been doing this for 60 years, the copycats have been a little slow on the uptake.
I like this site. You guys should start a section about the truth about car insurance too, or team up with sites like mycarinsurancerates.com or something (they seem to have a sense of humor judging by the picture on their homepage)…but yeah, car insurance is probably a lot more sleazy than cars, which is why i’d be more interested in a site with that info
Nothing, mid 90’s American bulge-mobile is always nice.
I callen Der Torus!
maybe…that it’s not parked in the “waiting to go into the shop” parking spot?
It’s a Phaeton, not a Passat as the badge says….
I think the same…
(but I am not really sure, because I ALWAYS have to read the badge to tell apart top of the line Passat sedans from Phaetons).
Or there is out there a Passat XL that is 1cm longer than the Passat “L” and 1cm shorter than the Phaeton?.
Not merely a Passat, but a Passat XL!
Passat XL is shorter than I’m embarassed by this Phaeton
How bout a XXL? I thought the XL was a coment on the Passat’s booty.
The license plate seems to be invalid.

What exactly is the safety issue there Tosh?

Nice to see a VW owner with a sense of humour.
The photographer is about to be run over by a white Mitsubishi Eclipse.
I find those oversized company logos to be disgusting. Thank VW for being the driving force behind every knucklehead adopting this design statement.

Baruth traveling incognito across the pond?

It looks bloated. Prescribe a diuretic.
How about a W8 instead of a XL badge?
Where is the rear spoiler to keep the rear tires contacting the pavement when immense velocities are achieved?
The Phaeton is understated on the outside, but inside it’s a rainforest.
