As I noted in my most recent review, TTAC’s coverage of cars and the companies that create them are based largely on the power of the internet to deliver the latest news on which to base our breaking analysis. And though a constant stream of news-based analysis will continue to define TTAC’s content, it’s also become clear to me that we (myself, in particular) need to spend more time behind the wheel even if that means a little less time behind the keyboard.
Due to circumstances which will be explained in due course (and which are hinted at in this picture), I spent even more of my five-day trip to Southern California behind the wheel than I ever expected. Now safely re-chained to my computer at TTAC headquarters, I am prepping new reviews and returning to our news coverage with fresh enthusiasm and perspective. Rest assured, your patience with our brief slowdown in content cadence will be richly rewarded.

Ed,
Please keep us posted on any future So Cal trips. I’m sure you were slammed, but would have welcomed a chance to thank you in person for your hard work for TTAC. Still my favorite auto site on the interwebs.
Absolutely. There would have been no way to schedule such a meet-up on this particularly hectic trip, but I’m definitely anxious to meet TTAC’s fans and commenters in person. For future trips to LA and elsewhere, I will make every possible effort to set up a time and place to meet and talk cars, the car industry and TTAC’s coverage with any of our Best And Brightest who can make it. How could I say no to meeting my many bosses?
Wrapping thumbs around steering wheel, steering with palms (not fingers), looking very tense. Looks like our editor needs to read the shuffle steering article!
+1 He’s gonna break his fingers if he’s not careful. Poor guy is so tense he’s already forgotten the first lesson of the Jack Baruth Driving School.
I very much look forward to the day when I can spend some time at a track with Jack. I’ll be the first to admit that I have much to learn.
His mouth is open, so I’m guessing this was taken just prior to the accident :)
Doh!
HMMM, I think I see a porsche crest on that steering wheel…in that case we’ll let it slide…this time…
Ahhh… that’s a Cayman S you’re driving. No wonder you’ve been spending less time at the keyboard!
Base or S? Those gauges look like they could be black. In any case, it appears to be PDK-equipped…
They look white to me, but just to add confusion to the matter, you can order white-faced gauges on a base model and black-faced ones on an S.
They could be white. It’s just difficult to tell from that angle, because the black gauges will reflect similarly.
And yes indeed, gauges of different colors can be ordered. I suspect that some base models may be ordered with white gauges, but I would be surprised if any S models are ordered with black gauges :-)
Enjoying that Cayman?
