The Fisker Karma hybrid sedan may be debuting in about two days and counting, but what does a debut mean? According to the Detroit News, Fisker spokesfolks are already saying that
the “first few customers” will get Karma vehicles by the end of the year, with full production to start in the first three months of 2011.
In other words, we’re afew days away from a Potemkin launch, in order to keep the Department of Energy from looking like a misinformation peddler. The DOE said the Karma would be on sale this summer way back when it lent Fisker $530m. Whoops!

That is not a very attractive car looking at it straight on.
Always reminds me of Jack Nicholson’s “Joker” for some reason…whether that’s good or bad Karma for the role, I’m not sure.
Fisker had a car on display at a Denver Caddilac/Volvo dealer a few weeks ago. It looked like they went to the Jaguar/Aston Martin school of design. Not a bad looking car actually. Sitting inside, the interior was well appointed. Could not drive it, however. “Hybrid luxury” cars seem a bit pointless to me.

There’s a VERY good reason for that….I recommend the fisker wiki page.
Henrik Fisker was Head of Design at Aston Martin under Ford, so the resemblance is no coincidence. Nevertheless, it’s a beautiful piece of automotive design, judging by pictures at least. Even with that “joker grin” as the Duke nailed it spot on. Never saw it in person, though (the car, that is)…

My prediction: Fisker and Tesla will merge in the next recession and Mitt Romney will run Fisker-Tesla-Jeep Motors.
