Hurry home Ed, I’m obviously running out of creativity and good judgment. Bit didn’t you always wonder what Sarah Palin drove in her younger days? MSNBC has posted a Sarah Palin Retrospective, and I should have guessed: one of my all-time least favorite cars (CC here). And is it the “Grande” version even? Not a Maverick? Well, going back even further into her childhood reveals even more:
Now that’s more like it. And she already has that killer smile. Since we’ve slipped off the edge into the political/social abyss, here’s an interesting take on Sarah and Marilyn Monroe, whom I paired with something a bit more alluring than the Mustang.

Were any of them ‘Brougham’s?
Point #1. This is ancient news–her book, which came out last year had these pics.
Point #2. Thought TTAC wasn’t about political statements. I guess it’s OK if it’s YOUR political statement.
Point #1: Agreed, I also remember it being on Jalopnik with the same opening picture.
Point #2: Think you’re being to sensitive; I’ve read plenty of stuff on this site that was not very kind to the democrats, maybe you didn’t mind cause you agreed…
Also, I think a little bit of talking politics is ok for TTAC every once in a while, especially when it is (even if, in this case, ever so slightly) linked to car stuff.
Did you not notice the equal-time, anti-Plain link to the article by the irrational and hypocritical Maureen Dowd?
errr, you’re right, Stephen Walton.
If I can translate your outrage properly…. then YES, please leave YOUR politics out of it.
:)
No need to apologize. It’s fun to see famous people in their earlier years with the cars that were in their life.

Nah, just “landaus”.
¿Y Landau por donde? jajajajaja
Gee Stingray, I Think our english speaking friends didn’t get it…
It meant that.. well umm L anda..umm how can I explain? ;-P
Oh well, nice word game…Funny anyway!
Saludos
Jajajaja, I tried to give an explanation and after 5 milliseconds thinking I left it at that. Let’s say it was a gift for the Spanish speaking part of this.
Y me pregunto, ¿por donde landau?
Saludos viejo.
Por la oreja?
Hey being driven around in a Rambler makes you a “Maverick.” Oh, wait…
If only she’d been driving around in a Maverick…
She looks more like a Cougar
Touche!
I heard she has a custom-made ’90 Bristol. Really unreliable and not much to look at, but interesting.
Her right arm seems to have been amputated at the elbow in the top pic.
I LOVE Mustangs, and HATE Sarah Palin. Ouch, it’s making my heard hurt.
between the first line of the blog, and most of the comments, this has definitely busted the laughmeter!!!
There is a Plymouth Valiant posing in the background of the ice fishing photo.
I’m sure that this is pretty much what our founding fathers had in mind for the future US of A.

OldandSlow:
No Valiant. Didn’t you see the commercial? George Washington drove a Challenger!
Somehow, when I read Sarah Palin, I remember this pic

There’s a ton of additional fake Photoshop pictures out there just a Google search away.
The eager-to-believe MSM got suckered in on a fake Michelle Malkin photo a few years ago.
I guess that her high school basketball nickname “Barracuda” was not because she was a Mopar girl.
Upon reflection, Paul, I think she has better taste in cars than if she had been driving the ubiquitous Mustang II or Pinto wagon. Or a Pacer.
Sarah Palin was born in 1964 (I looked it up) so she couldn’t drive until at least 1980. By 1980, I might have considered a clean 71-73 Mustang over a lot of other cars.
And how many of you would let her drive your car?
Whatever car she drives, it always pulls to the right.
Now for something different: I saw my first and only Honda Crosstour here in Honolulu a couple hours ago….. Who approved that design????
awful design.
I thought this Volt thing was a couple of days ago? Where has Ed got to? Have GM abducted him and sent him for ‘re-education’?
With our taxpayer dollars, GM can afford the most expensive car launch in history. Not just TTAC, but people from such luminaries in the journalism world as EVWorld are being flown to Detroit to be wined and dined and pampered with the privilege of driving a pre-release Chevy Volt.
And it’s working! Lots of good press already.
It’s been going on in waves. Not surprisingly, he was in one of the last, if not the last. He just arrived back at his place, and I’m handing over the baton. Time to go for a bike ride with my camera!
With our taxpayer dollars, GM can afford the most expensive car launch in history….
See, here, you disapprove of the expensive launch, because it’ll waste taxpayer money and is useless.
And it’s working! Lots of good press already.
…and here, you disapprove of the expensive launch because it is working!
How can you possibly act sanctimonious about GM ‘wasting taxpayer money’ when you admit one sentence later that it’s a good use of money!?!
Good hear you’re ‘hitting the streets’ camera in hand PN-
I was going to donate you the $299 I ‘saved earlier today. That $$ should fund a few tankfuls of gas (you can even drive your jalopy F100) as you spread an even wider net in search of the ultimate CC.
:)
Unbelievable, this far into the thread, and a grade school mentality a name calling flame war has not broken out yet? Congratulations dear fellow commenters.
My former female boss was ineffective but very HOT!! She excelled only at drama and power trips and her male superiors (enablers) were completely blinded by their testosterone, even as my department was rendered utterly dysfunctional by her actions. BTW she was deeply into Evangelical Christianity and tried to “convert” me several times at work
I must say Mrs. Palin makes my private parts shrivel. Manipulative controlling women do that to me. I do not rule out her “pushing the button” to usher in the fundamentalist’s belief in the Biblical Rapture. I have attended evangelical Christian churches and witnessed such mentalities.
Women who are influential because of their looks are unappealing to me. Would Mrs. Palin be anywhere near as influential with her fans today if she looked like Eleanor Roosevelt? Doubtful.
Was that post sarcasm, you congratulate everyone for decorum and then go on a wacky gender/religious rant? If so, pretty funny turn on a dime there.
ttacgreg: Would Mrs. Palin be anywhere near as influential with her fans today if she looked like Eleanor Roosevelt? Doubtful.
Incorrect. She was actually a good governor, so her fans have some basis for their devotion to her, unlike, say, Hillary Clinton fans in 1992, when her main achievement was marrying a man ambitious enough to become president. I was at a rally for Clinton in the summer of 1992 (during his bus tour with Hillary and the Gores), and the women chanting “Hillary” were quite unsettling. But because they were chanting for a Democrat, that was supposedly okay.
A good Governor usually finishes out her term!
well what do you expect when a political/religion bait is on the hook? I’d like to put in a good word for the elegant Ms. Doud, a good Catholic girl.
you mean Dowd? Angry is more fitting than elegant. She is the newspaper version of Rahm “fuck ’em” Emanuel.
I’d like to put in a good word for the elegant Ms. Doud, a good Catholic girl.
Dang if I could name all the fun I’ve had in my life while enjoying the company of a “good Catholic girl”…
Can we just get this over and elect Palin? LOL! Maybe then people would see how good or how bad she is and we could move on to real tangible problems that need to be solved… GRIN!
We waste SO much time on discussing politicians just like we debate sports but so little time demanding real answers and real results. I’d argue that some of the sports discussions I’ve heard lately had more facts in them than the left vs right, CNN vs Fox, Palin vs Obama debates!
We do we bother interviewing politicians when we could look up their voting records? Why don’t we actually pin this disaster or that on the party responsible?
Oh politics could be so much more fact based that we ask of it.
FWIW Palin is just a pretty smile to me. She knows how to charm her way through life and leaves the real work to the underlings.
My question every time I hear some Obama bashing begin is what would McCain/Palin do? Obama ain’t perfect but he inherited a historic mess. My guess is the McCain/Palin team would have made many of the same choices and same mistakes. This next election is going to suck b/c I don’t want to vote for the Republicans who offered so LITTLE to us Americans just to run interference on the Dems. Don’t want to vote for the Dems b/c I’m not sure they did everything within their power. Guess I’ll just vote out the incumbents…
The last people that elected her had her up and quit before her term was up, because everybody was being so mean to her. (The White House press corps is never mean to anybody, of course.)
That’s a chance I’m not willing to take.
she has proven she’s nothing more than a FAILURE and opportunist.
Problem is, our society elevates the WORST people in society for 15 minutes – which is just long enough for them to get rich from it. I wonder how many people in Wasilla and Alaska knew what they were voting for when she was Mayor.
The easiest way to win at tug-o-war is to let go of the rope.
