Part supernatural savior, part soft-rock music video lecher, the new Subaru Impreza Concept is really trying hard to impress in this video (look Ma, no pun!). Still, if it’s a Subaru, shouldn’t it be driving in computer-generated mud, not water?

If the Legacy concept was any indication, I expect that the new production Impreza to look very similar to this, minus some of the futuristic gadgets and trim.  It’s not an ugly car, but it doesn’t tug at me like the current and previous Imprezas with their quirkiness and likability.

Rather derivative.  Like they put a Mazda, Nissan and Volvo in a blender.  I hope they will still offer a hatch/wagon — you know, a version with a real back seat and some cargo capacity.

Wow, that’s a lot of CGI.  I half expected Jar-Jar Binks to step out of the car at the end.  What’s with the shaved door handles and missing mirrors?
I dunno – if it’s not blue with an ironing board bolted to the trunk lid, it just doesn’t say Impreza to me (or maybe they’re saving that for the STi version)

Whenever I think ‘Subaru’ I think of a brand that refuses to sell me a car I want, as I’m simply not in need of AWD. Hatch, yes.

It looks like the progeny of a Subaru Legacy and a new Volvo S60.
