The driver of this Chinese delivery van deemed the price of a cheap Chinese replacement mirror as much too high: “What, it will last only one day anyway – the next passing car will take it right off .” Therefore, a low cost field expedient was found, as Carnewschina reports.

I remember being a passenger in a pickup with a guy who was a line-hugger (he had problem eyesight but he was a veteran while I had ‘student’ rank). We were on the highway and were particularly close to the line when an eighteen wheeler whizzed by, taking the driver side mirror with it. I drove the rest of the way.

Well let’s look at the bright side. He is a safer driver with the beauty mirror rigged to the remaining side mirror stem.
And I will admit to doing the same thing while I waited for my UPS package to arrive from cheapcarmirrors.com. My kids were traumatized when they had to get in my car with the “mirror that used to be in the bathroom” but I didn’t cut anyone off for a few days.

Hey, cheap and crappy aside – at least they fixed the mirror. I see plenty of wing mirror-less beaters scooting around Vancouver. Their drivers even more oblivious than your usual moronic Vancouver driver.

There’s a woman driving a decrepit Suzuki Sidekick around my hometown (north of Toronto) who’s rigged a hand mirror up on one of her doors. That, coupled with her rolling road-block status doesn’t engender much faith in Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation.
