This comes from today’s Porsche Club of America e-mail newsletter. Can you identify the actress in this advertisement for the 996 Carrera? We know this ad was filmed a long time ago, because now the young lady from the clip has become a rather famous adult, and also because there isn’t any heavy oil smoke coming from the exhaust — a sure sign that this 996 hasn’t covered more than, oh, a couple thousand miles. Be aware that any “I’d hit it comments” will receive the same chilly reception that my ex-wife gave me when I uttered the phrase during the fencing scene of 1998’s “The Parent Trap” reboot.

This would be more fun with image imbeds…

The answer to the question is: Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Seriously though, In the car/through the windshield she looks like a young Kristen Stewart, but in the last scene, Scarlet Johansson.

I listened with the sound off, so I didn’t hear the dialog between the driver and his passenger …

Anyhow, I thought that the age gap between a Porsche driver and his female passenger would be greater than this, but the female would be significantly older…

BTW, call me sheltered, but I don’t recognise the girl.

      :) that’s funny

I do believe it’s Kristen Stewart though

Are you sure? This girl looks like she is capable of more than one facial expression.

In that case it’s kind of sad that this commercial has a more believable story than the movies she’s now famous for and, even sadder, that this is the performance of her lifetime. But the saddest thing by far is that saying “I’d tap that” is far, far, far less creepy then the fact that the Gay vampire/Gay werewolf/Female zombie(she was a zombie right? no humane could possibly has as few facial expressions) romance story was written by a grown woman.

Couldn’t tell at first, but you can totally recognize Kristen Stewart at 12 seconds.

Will we get blocked for saying that she’s a TRAMPIRE?

More on-topic, though, I actually remember that this ad, when it originally aired, was about the first time that I ever found the 911 attractive. I never liked the vertical-headlight air-cooled models when I was a kid (I KNOW, right?), but the rear of that car disappearing down a country road just did it for me, for the first time.

        You mission is as follows.
        1. Build a time traveling device
        2. Use said machine and travel back in time to 1998
        3. Kick your own, albeit younger, self’s ass until he/you realizes the error of his/your way.
        4. Repeat steps 2-3 whilst adjusting the date until you have no memory of EVER disliking the 993 or earlier iterations of the 911 on purely aesthetic grounds.

Ever since a friend of mind told me some years ago that all 911s remind him of “a troll dragging a sack of coal over his shoulder” I haven’t been able to get that image out of my mind.

        @Morea:

That is damn funny! And true!

Reminds me of when a friend of mine commented that the side profile of my dad’s 1983 Cadillac Seville reminded him of a dog taking a dump. I’d loved that car up until that point, then afterwards…8-/

I guess we now know where Miss Stewart got her thing for older men.

Hey Jack! Where’s the MSRP for this Porsche in this story? What’s it’s ‘Ring time? Nowhere do I see any analysis of power and torque. And I object to the fact you didn’t ask about the Dad in the commercial. What’s his name, huh? Why all this focus on the girl? It’s always the same with you. Bias, bias, bias. Always chick first. So predictable, Jack. OMGZWTFBBQPOWERCHORD!

With such an excellent title as “Twilight Of The Gods” I expected a detailed Baruthian diatribe to better enrich my plebeian life… what gives?

  • avatar
    replica

I was expecting a sordid tale of Baruth making love in a thunderstorm, then growing wings at climax and parting the tempest with his…well.

    I’ll leave it there.

    Rupert Sanders would hit that

(later on of course, so I don’t get banned)

I like how old the father is in that ad. How about something like ‘I’d hit it… with an air cooled 964?’

Seriously, I can’t find a decent Volvo 240 from the 80s/early 90s let alone one with a manual, yet there are plenty of 911s out there.

Dad likes to drive FLAT OUT!

Seriously, though, Kristin Stewart. Weird looking kid, weirder looking adult.

Um – a Porsche catches up to a school bus (which makes many stops) and I’m supposed to be IMPRESSED? For crying out loud – my Sienna could catch up with my daughter’s school bus. What lame-brain at Porsche came up with this ad, anyways?

      Steve65

Uh, the point of the ad isn’t that it’s faster. It’s that it’s more fun to ride in than a school bus. There’s also some overtones of “Dad likes to have the excuse to take a drive in it”, which explains why he doesn’t manage to catch up until they get to the school.

Looks like she’s busy establishing her criteria for a future husband.

“Gorgeous young woman seeks handsome, athletic, financially secure stud with Porsche… send picture of Porsche”.

The blowing leaves sort of reminds me of my two VW beetles. This has to be one high powered leaf blower.

Kristen Stewart back when she still had a pulse.

Easy to recognize. Jack, for a more appropriate comparison with your reaction to the aforementioned fencing scene (LL was 12…ick, couldn’t you wait until Mean Girls at least?), I think you’d need to pop in a DVD of “Catch That Kid”. She was a bit older than in this ad, but still outside the range of those not named Roman Polanski.

  • avatar

What’s with the quip about the 996 burning oil? Better yet, why do you rag on the 996 so much, Jack? The only thing I could ever really find wrong with it was how dog ugly those headlights were.

Has the average IQ of TTAC readers dropped precipitously in recent memory? Or is just that whenever JB posts ANYTHING that posters regress to lame schoolyard taunts and d!ck measuring? How can posting a totally innocuous Porsche advertisement cause so much non-vehicle related angst? Must be summer vacation…..

My know everything about twilight daughter says that the actress is a young Kristen Stewart. The actor looks like Marc Summers of Food Network fame. 5 minutes of my life I will never get back. Thanks Jack.

I hope Ms Stewart gets cast in a properly directed movie; I swear she is capable of displaying emotion… it’s just rather unfortunate what she’s become famous for.
