Prior to Jack’s accident, the two of us had planned to organize a meetup for TTAC readers or give anyone who wished to do physical harm to the two of us a chance to do their worst. While Jack will likely not be able to attend, you’re all welcome to come meet me on Sunday, January 12th at 8 PM at O’Henry’s pub in Allen Park Michigan. O’Henry’s is located just off of I-94 in Allen Park, attached to the Best Western Greenfield Inn, aka “The Pink Palace”, TTAC’s unofficial NAIAS base of operations. Last year, I was able to meet a few readers and immensely enjoyed chatting with them face to face, rather than through a computer screen. I hope that this year’s gathering will give me a chance to meet even more of you. Please let me know in the comments if you are interested in attending, and I’ll make sure to wear a clean, ironed shirt for the event.

I’d love to, but the NAIAS public show doesn’t start until the 18th. Detroit is a few hours drive, so I can only make one trip.
Being this close to Ford and ChryCo HQ, are you sure you don’t want to hold the meet and greet somewhere past a security checkpoint?
I’m right in the area, so I could do this.
I’m about 10 minutes away. Sounds like a blast.
hah, I used to work accross the highway from The Pink Palace over on Fairlane. Ford Country.
Why are you guys staying all the way out in Allen Park and not closer to the action at Cobo?
That’s not that far out.
I’ve attended the show for years and stay at The Townsend, which is out in Birmingham.
But Birmingham is really nice. Allen Park is….uh…well its okay.
Derek: I will be at NAIAS press days, would love to meet you guys for a drink, ping me via Twitter if you want to set something up.
John what’s your twitter handle again?
There used to be a little bar just the other side of the tracks from the pink palace on Oakwood that used to serve great steaks. Don’t know if they’re still there since it’s been a few years since I’ve been there.
Hopps and Barley on Oakwood & Allen?
Still there. Still have $1 Kilian’s and IIRC $7 steak dinners last time I was there (May). Used to go there after our beer league games @ the Melvindale Ice Rink.
Ha. Jo and I (yes, that Jo) are staying at the same place for the show, but we won’t be arriving until after 11 pm.
And in a Mitsubishi. After four hours of driving.
Try to have a couple of shots of Makers Mark lined up eh?
I will be hitting the show in a Mits too.
I should be able to make it. These things have always been pretty fun.
Sounds like fun! Now that I live in the area, I’ll see if I can drop by.

Public show does not start until the 18th, so the only way I am coming down is if you can get me in early, can you do this? :)
Can’t get in to media days without media credentials, and they make you jump through hoops to get ’em.
Wait, they dont’ call the restaurant there Zickafoose’s anymore?? I remember eating there with my parents when I was a kid after trips to the off-brand Costco known as “Warehouse Club” that used to be nearby.
I will be there. Look forward to meeting you.
