BMW has dug into its history books, picked out one of the prettiest, fastest, lightest cars of note, and built this as a tribute – the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage Concept.
Details are light at the moment as BMW has yet to send out a release, but the bustling crowd at the 2015 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este has already been afforded a first look of BMW’s latest concept. The new car features widened bodywork and a dramatic rear wing in the style of the original CSL.
We will have more on BMW’s latest Hommage as the story develops.

Forgot my Epipen again…
Angioedema or Anaphylaxis trim?
Rather disappointed they didn’t do the Motorsport triple slash all the fanbois love:
Ho///m///mage.
Also surprised this doesn’t have four doors–it is a coupe, after all.
Are you not allowed to post an actual concept art or image etc because of some rules?!

I’m guessing the joke is lost on you, huh?
I just assumed you hate BMW and how heavy their cars are now. Is that a joke? More of a serious observation.
Warm…warmer…
Honestly, I have nothing against BMW. I just think the Hommage Concept looks bulbous and ugly.
I agree. Like a bunch of the new luxury coupes these days, it looks like a cross between an athletic shoe and an alien suppository.
And somewhere a hot wind whistles through the barren canyon…
sorry mark too erudite for me – i missed the joke too.
…i’m too distracted by the porsche badge to get the joke…
I guessed I missed the joke too. Not going to spend any time trying to figure it out. Moving on I guess.
So the premise is that readers go elsewhere for the news, and here for the gags.
Somehow I fail to see this as funny – I come here for car news and discussion, not infantile jokes.
For those who missed the joke – TTAC acquired exclusive rights to expose the production version of the concept. Concept is too radical and surfacing is too complicated for mass production. It is ultimate driving machine after all. Where is DW BTW?
I can’t believe what I just saw. Nearly made me throw up.
Pass me that Epipen, Veee8.
Checking calendar… not April 1. What gives?
My first thought, as well.
Gotta admit, that balloon-shaped car (or car-shaped balloon) is rather eye catching. Wonder what kind of aerodynamic CoD it gets? (I do like the looks of the real BMW, btw… if I could get a different color.)
Dip it in flour and look for the wet spot?
the one in the photo above pigged out on white bread impregnated with high fructose corn syrup, instead of corn squeezin’s fuel. The Germans are furious that the Americans put it on an American diet.
The BMW “M” is for Midol?
Maybe “medrol”. Take enough of it and you’ll look a lot like that car.
Close enough.
Damn it, now where did I put my dentures?
Le Chubmobile? It’s cute! Total chick magnet.
She hot.
She plumpin.
Designed for the Michelin Man? Big Hero 6?
Is there a Ms. Mellow here? First name Marsha? Is there a Marsha Mellow here?
Looks more like a pizza advert to me.
Yup. Extra fromage for the hommage.
I chuckled.
On a serious note, I think it’s about time BMW built a Dodge Viper tribute.
Why is this car wearing Weird Al’s fat suit?
Hell of a thing to see just before bed!!
Adding the rear end from the new Civic type R is a surprising twist, as Honda has definitely stolen a few design cues from BMW in the past.
I guess revenge is sweet :)
Takata concept car.
They figured the best place for them is on the outside…
Edit: My avatar approves!
Is it just me, or does it take quite a few design cues from Toyota’s FT1/new Supra?
Especially the front bumper and interior (steering wheel, heads up display).
If the next Z-car will share the FT1’s platform, it makes sense…
I saw this car (sculpture?) in person recently; it’s at the Museum of Old and New Art in Hobart, Tasmania. Clearly it’s a 911 and it seems to be built on an actual car chassis with all the body panels redone in fiberglass. Even the seats, dash, interior panels, etc. got the inflation treatment.
Now, what exactly one is supposed to be moved to feel by this work of art I can not say.
If it was based on a pickup truck, I’d have the perfect answer for you, Harry. On the other hand, if you look at today’s cars beside their now-antique predecessors of the same name (yes, even the 911 itself) then we would have to say today’s cars are rather bloated from what they used to be.
I see what you did there, and it made me laugh as you intended.
HAH!
I got it Mark, and I laughed.

This is the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man from Ghost busters.
When Mama June passes this becomes My Mother The Car.
