As a follow-up to the VerticalScope security breach, I want to take a moment to remind you to change your passwords if you haven’t done so already. That includes passwords for non-VerticalScope accounts that use the same email address or password.
Here’s the official notice from VerticalScope on the breach.
Huh? When I click on “My account” above, I’ll get redirected to WordPress. How is the relation to VerticalScope?
TTAC is a VerticalScope-owned property.
WordPress is just the framework VerticalScope uses to present the information here.
See, both your posts would have been vital information to be included above.
I don’t change my password for nobody. I LIKE my password, 23SkiDoo, and use it for everything, so it’s too much trouble.
Damn, yes! This!
I’m keeping MoeLarryCheese till the caliphate comes. And then I’ll convert those monkeys to Stooges.
Life Hack Level 90: Just use the word “password” as your password. No one will ever guess it, and you’ll never forget it!
“password” is something my grandmother would use.
P@ssword123 is the unhackable one.
I hear “mom1234” is good.
Mind blown. That is totally a Level 99 life hack.
Respeck.
I use Mxyzptlk spelled backwards!
But it doesn’t matter much if the passwords are stolen. It may as well be 12345.
PSA = Prostate-specific antigen
I gotta get that checked?
You guys are really cracking down.
Why can’t I change my password to “Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee69?”
Apparently that’s forbidden.
Did I get too close to an Admin password with that?
Naw, too close to Hillary’s admin password. Sellout was already taken.
I heard her server Admin password is 1234.
Exactly what is at risk here?
Is it that someone will start posting comments here under my name, or are there some other cyber vectors my TTAC password opens up that I don’t know about?
Total world domination starts right here.
ttacgreg,
That’s kinda my thought. In another article, they suggested complex passwords.
For a site like this, I don’t worry about my password a whole lot. Someone hacks my account, they might start posting…
…never mind, I beat that one to death.
Pretty sure this compromised my twitter account. Haven’t noticed anything else.
It’s only a password I use for things I don’t really need to be secure, though.
So, how do I change my password (really).
Upper left hand corner.
The Truth About Cars.
Hold cursor over it and you get Dashboard.
Click dashboard and go to profile.
This. This is why my original account used a netzero.net email address. But then oh no, TTAC doesn’t believe that anyone with an obscure email address could be real so I’m forced to use my primary email address. Thanks for both the unnecessary policy and this hack.
Its more annoying than a true security risk because I do reuse these credentials but on low importance web sites.
