Welcome back to Question Of The Day, where I will be answering the questions that YOU, the Google Search customer, use to find our humble website. Your first question, Is Dodge Durango FWD or AWD, was asked by two different people! It deserves an answer, and the answer is: Sometimes it is one of those things!
Let’s see what else you wanted to know but were too afraid to publicly ask …
is the 2.7 liter v6 engine a good engine: This one’s a trick question, isn’t it? Because some 2.7-liter V6 engines are very good, and some are quite bad, and some are just in the middle. I did work with a fellow who got 200,000 miles out of a second-generation Dodge Intrepid powered by the Chrysler 2.7, which is the engine that I suspect you’re asking after. That is such a statistical outlier that I feel nervous even disclosing it to impressionable people who might then go ahead and buy a 2.7-liter Chrysler for some reason.
autonomous car nightmare: I assume this is a reference by the NSA to the nightmare I had the other night when I wasn’t wearing my foil hat. I was in an autonomous car with my first wife, who kept asking me to give her a specific time that I would be home from the skatepark that night. But in the nightmare, I ended up leaving my watch in my equipment bag and I didn’t actually get home until 97 minutes after my target time. In fact, this nightmare was pretty much my first marriage, except there was an autonomous car involved. And there was no part of the dream where I backed my Nissan Frontier into the parking posts in front of the Burger King next to the skatepark, even though that happened all the time in real life. It’s very interesting.
daimler tata: Somebody should kick your ass up through your teeth for even suggesting that.
whats the waiting time for austrlia to get the 2017 ford mustang v8: Considerably less than the waiting time for “Big Al” to get his Texas Edition badge from me, which is currently estimated at between 90 days and you go to hell.
ford van boaterhome: He was the fourteenth Baron of Saxony.
s550 mustang problems australia: I blame Big Al.
2007 nissan altima hybrid cars, how they work: Not very well, and the sales numbers reflected that.
bmw z3 roadster 1999 can the small door window rubber cause the the large window to stick: Depends on how small the door-window rubber is. If we’re talking about a Pekingese, probably not. But I betcha my son could defeat a power window in a BMW by rubbing it really hard.
car game: The English soldier throws up when he sees the frank and beans, if you know what I’m saying, and I think you do.
is ecoboost the same as dohc in a ford f-150? Exactly the same. They’re just fancy names for the same thing, which experienced mechanics call a “Johnson rod.”
delorean based on the bricklin: It’s an idea that has some merit but which would likely be more trouble than just doing a delorean based on the Esprit the way regular people do.
1984 chevy s-10 complaints and issues: The most common complaint is body odor, followed closely by failure to pay child support.
what means car length below 4mtr: That’s what I’ve always said! Once you get below four meters, it’s all pretty much the same, anyway!
show dodge aspen wagon for sale in california close to torrance or nearby area: NOW IT SHOWS THE DODGE ASPEN WAGON FOR SALE IN CALIFORNIA, CLOSE TO TORRANCE OR A NEARBY AREA. IT DOES THIS WHENEVER IT’S TOLD … *pause* … JUST SHOW THE ASPENS IN THE F**KING STATE!
That’s all for now, folks!

I don’t know if you’re looking for a serious answer, but your cryptic answer is correct in most circumstances. The Durango is never FWD, and sometimes it is AWD. The non-SRT versions have active AWD which defaults to an open center clutch (RWD only) until the fronts are needed to provide motive traction (IE, rears are slipping.) On the (New for 2018!) SRT version, it has active AWD just like it’s frumpy sisters, but in this case the tranfer case never defaults to RWD.
Of course you can always opt for the 2WD version and never have to wonder.
Just my two cents.
How is babby formed?

You used to email R.Farago for a userid. It’s a little more open now.
How many cans are there in a six pack?
threeve x 2 ^ 6
My dad’s ’95 Dakota was temporarily FWD.
Something had been rubbing on the aluminum rear driveshaft and it broke right when my dad was backing out from visiting his insurance agent. He took the rear driveshaft off and put it in the box, attached the bottom half of a soda can or bottle to the tailshaft housing to keep the oil in the transfer case once the slip yoke was off of the output shaft, shifted into 4-high and got home that way.
So, a FWD Durango from the era of the Dakota-based ones that had a part-time transfer case could theoretically happen… but it’s unlikely.

How much does a remanufactured flywheel for my RX 350 cost?
Jack? you been drinking the purple drank today? You gon’ share?
Jack is apparently mourning Tay.ai’s death one year ago.
what is the knocking noise in Volvo B230 engine?
can 2.0 ecoboost fit in BMW 2002?
This is clearly the best thing I will read all day! I laughed, I cried, I cried from laughing, and I laughed from crying.
are 96 month car loans a good idea?
It depends on the interest rate. The higher you can get the better an investment it becomes. I still can’t believe I got a 23% APR!
I am SO glad I wasn’t drinking anything when I read that!
It also depends on the car, like paying that on a Mitsubishi Mirage is smart, because its value/demand is so high, you’ll end up making money off the deal!
Either that, or a nice, clean, well cared for and religiously maintained Suzuki Verona repo car. You’ll be its 7th repo when your McJob hours are cut! Very lucky number.
Mirage as “investment.”
BWAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHHAAAAHAHAHHAHAAAAA
(Explains why I lease.)
Is TruCoat an investment?
YES! It does a great job at keeping your car warm all winter. I barely have to turn the heater on at all!
They put it on at the factory. There’s nothing I can do.
You can’t lose on extended warranties when buying a car, my man. I suggest the Triple-Diamond Platinum plan along with the “Ultra Reserve” paint and interior protection package, Steel-Gard glass etching, GAP insurance, Lo-Jack,tire insurance, and an upfront 7 year maintenance contract.
And those suckers will even roll the cost into your financing, so it’s only like $100 more a month. That means it’s almost literally free!
They even got me for ‘stem lube!\'”
“Heh heh, ‘stem lube.’ Even I didn’t fall for that one.
…. though winter *is* coming.”
Stem lube?

What is a “Jiffy Lube,” and why did my husband pay $35 for one?
You not doing right by your man, girl.
If they offered *those* types of services, I might not toss the coupons they keep sending in the mail
That place is a rip off. I told them I needed a lube job and my rear end was leaking. They hung up on me.
I have this cap in my engine bay that says 710, what am I supposed to put in there? Is that the octane rating?
Somebody stole it from a 70s Datsun. Return it at once!
What is the average wing speed velocity of a unleaded swallow and does it get better mileage using African or European premium?
Can I make my own blinker fluid out of melted-down rubber bands?
Yes, but be sure to melt them in a double boiler to prevent burning. While you’re at it, be sure to wash away the oxidation on the headlight lenses by buffing them with ATF and 40 grit sandpaper. (Make sure you’re using the proper ATF for your vehicle though. Dexron for GM, Mercon for Ford, etc.)
After reading the above, am I alone in picturing shiny gold jacket JB locked in a Jimmy John’s bathroom, ripping lines and pounding out answers on his Iphone?
Or
Is JB in the corner of Ruth’s Chris, nattily attired in Hart Schaffner Marx, on his 7th Ketel One – answering these queries between courses?
None of the above.

Should I get a VW Phaeton? I know I just bought a big luxury land-yacht, but the Phaeton is really cool and I’ve always wanted one. It would make a decent second car.
Only if you want a very reliable car that will instantly elevate your status in the social structure. You’ll win the Badge Snob award for badge whoring excellence.
And, who could forget, because it was so popular here, parts are super cheap/easy to find. Just like the BMW 8 series and the 1990s Mercury Capri.
GOOD MORNING ! .

Thank you one and all for the smiles .

Who put the bomp in the bomp bah bomp bah bomp?
I don’t know, but I’d do more than shake his hand, I’d probably pimp slap him for inspiring such an annoying song. I say that as a fan of music from that era (I grew up listening to 50s and 60s music more than anything).
Should I rotate my headlights so they burn out evenly?
Yes.
For GM, Ford and pre-FCA Chrysler – Headlights go straight back, reverse lights come to the front and cross over side to side.
For Euro makes and post-FCA Chrysler – Headlights go back and cross side to side, reverse lights come straight up.
For Japanese and Korean makes – No service is necessary. Nothing EVER goes wrong with these cars….never ever.
The one exception is the Geo Metro. Headlights and reverse lights go straight back and straight forward without crossing. Be careful not to over torque the lights when reinstalling or else you run the risk of warping the front brake rotors.
Look for “pregonart” on YT. Tears of laughter, and then terror when you realize how many people the public school system has failed.
The terror comes when you realize these people are pergnant with our future fellow citizens.
The future is offshore holdings and offshore real estate.
I thought sporty was joking.
He wasn’t. Oh, my.
HOW MUSH IS BREAKS FOR ALTIMA
Do you have a clean tittle for your Ultima? Is it the 5.1 litter moter?
Did you change the Head Casket? Do you need a preacher for that?
You should probably trade it for a Camero, Camery, Torrus, a Ford Grand Mercury/Crown Victory, or maybe even a Buick LeSable.
Too mush, I do mysulf.
How hard to change the water pump on a 1972 Super Beetle? Easier than the bus, I’m hoping.
Why doesn’t the pimply faced kid at AutoZone just order my damn RX-7’s piston rings? And my Crown Vic’s C.V. axles? You’d think they’re just rolling in money the way they keep turning down my business. I know I won’t be ordering my 1988 911’s radiator there.
What kind of gas mileage does the Focus Electric get?
Why do we no longer have rumble seats? Or the Original Third Row© as I call em, even though they weren’t always the 3rd.
What are 5 reasons I should test-drive the Hyundai Elantra/Tucson/Santa Fe Sport?
I’m not sure I’m any better than these referrers. My last two car-related Google searches:
“2013 audi q7 identify air suspension”
“lincoln mkt black wrap chrome”
They worked! I learned that air-equipped Q7s (which are vanishingly rare) have a small switch in the cargo compartment to lower the load height and that no one in history has ever considered blacking out a Lincoln MKT. Then I played with Pixelmator and discovered that blacking out the chrome on a dark-colored MKT makes it significantly less ugly *and* less like a livery car. If I buy a MKT there is probably some 3M matte black vinyl wrap in my future too.
The vinyl wrap I’m most interested in will turn a Nissan Cube into a Borg Cube.
Resistance is fu-tile.
“2013 audi q7”
Are you shopping the GL450 at all or are they a little too thirsty?
Don’t like the style as much. The GL says “Big Truck” too much for my taste.
Honestly, the only significant way I like the Q7 better than the MKT is style. The MKT wins on room, comfort, power, driving dynamics (because of a 600-pound weight difference), features, price, reliability record, and (believe it or not, but the wear on used examples doesn’t lie) interior build quality.
But the Q7 looks *so damm good* in S-Line Plus form (with blackout trim and the 21s). I showed my wife a picture and she said “Sexy!” Then I showed her a regular Q7 and she was shocked at how much difference the S-Line Plus decoration made.

FYI Jack, Saxony is (was) a Duchy.
“The most common complaint is body odor, followed closely by failure to pay child support.”
That’s a feature, not a bug.
Okay. Serious question. I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but FoMoCo vehicles have played a more-artistic set of chimes since about 2009 / 2010. Most recognizable is the three-note seatbelt chime (for Ford products) or slightly more formal four-note seatbelt chime (for Lincoln products). These chimes are played through the instrument cluster.
Now, it seems that many of the cars originally sold with MyFord Touch or SYNC3 (anything that debuted in or after 2011) are capable of playing the chimes through the radio. I’m told this is through some sort of polyphonic sound generator that’s contained within the radio and has access to the speakers, but it may also simply be a sound that’s digitally sent to the speakers. In either event, the chimes on these cars resemble their cluster-generated counterparts, but are much more modern-sounding. These cars also still retain the cluster chime as a backup function, because if the car detects that the battery has a weak charge—like if you haven’t started the car for a while—it will play the chimes through the cluster until the engine is turned on, in order not to have to power on the sound system and further deplete the battery.
My 2014 MKS has MyFord Touch, but the model debuted in 2009, so it is not one of the models *originally* sold with MyFord Touch / SYNC3. That wasn’t added until 2013, with the refresh. Therefore, the MKS has the cluster chime. but I’m not sure if it has the polyphonic generator in the radio that plays the cleaner, more-pleasant chimes. If it *does*, is there a way to have the car default to the radio chimes?
Or should I just leave it the hell alone, and be glad I don’t have one of those 80s-90s era buzz chimes?
This is a weird question, I know.
That is some weird, wild stuff.
I’d be longing for those 80s-90s era buzz chimes. They were very easy to remove.
I don’t know, but I’ll take a guess. My guess is that the new BCMs have some sort of direct connection to the radio amp that bypasses the radio itself, and that earlier BCMs didn’t have that. If I’m right, it would be quite the hack to get those chimes in your MKS — you’d have to make a BCM from a newer model work.
Try a 1990s GM truck. You’ll think your MKS has a full symphony orchestra in the dash by comparison.
Unless you want your seat belt warning to play the Funeral March through the radio, why bother?
Alright, since this part of is what I work on, I’ll give you the skinny:
The polyphonic chimes were phased in starting with the 2013 Fusion and MKZ with the latest revision electrical architecture. as programs went through refreshes and implemented it, they received polyphonic chimes. They’re generated on-demand by the DSP inside the radio.
Your MKS is an older revision and doesn’t support polyphonic chimes. the CAN messages simply don’t exist.
Occasionally, in my ’15 302A F-150, I’ll open the door a certain way and catch the “monophonic” tritone, similar to my sister’s old Focus. Then, the Sync boots fully, and the tones get replaced halfway through with the polyphonic chime.
I’m assuming in XL work truck spec, or if the radio fails, the monophonic style is a backup / default.
Several chimes (beltminder, transmission not in Park, etc.) are FMVSS requirements, and *must* be played when needed. So yes the cluster is a fall-back if there’s any potential problem down stream in the audio chain. Sometimes, however, the radio doesn’t wake up quickly enough and the cluster will fill in.
Kyree- if you want any more info, drop me an email (I assume you can see e-mail addresses as a moderator)
I am always amazed at the stuff people will actually Google for. Even if they Bing.
Wow. Seeing your comment was a total headtrip because I haven’t read your blog in about 8 years (hey, sorry, I moved away from OKC) but as soon as I saw this post I thought, “Oh man, just like that dude from Dustbury used to do, those were hilarious!” Then I scroll down and see a comment from CGHill himself…
“Was that English?” If it’s leaking oil then, YES!
And don’t forget the 3M Stainguard that can only be installed by our factory trained certified technicians!
The gas mileage on this car is so good you can say that after 6 months it starts to pay for itself!
That means after a year stop making the loan/lease payments?
YES!
