The sudden arrival of summer in this writer’s neck of the woods had two beneficial impacts. First, I’m able to work shirtless and, secondly, I can be assured that the harsh sun and 90-plus degree temps will scrub the rona from my car’s interior just by leaving it parked outside all day. Helps lower the Lysol budget.
Of course, summer can be all too brief, and sometimes a person doesn’t have all day to wait for ambient heat to melt the lipid outer layer of your average coronavirus. Ford has a solution that, while not great for the environment, will at least bring peace of mind to law enforcement officers.
It seems that, given the abundance of Blue Oval SUVs serving in police roles these days, the automaker felt the need to create a self-cleaning mode via the vehicle’s HVAC system and a new bit of software.
Yes, thanks to Ford, previous-generation Police Interceptor Utility models can really cook. On Wednesday, the manufacturer announced the creation of a new setting that cranks up the heat in the vehicle’s cabin to 133 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes, eradicating 99 percent or more of viruses, even in hard-to-reach areas. It’ll also defrost those steaks.

Available “immediately” in 2013-2019 models sold in North America and overseas, the software can be activated even if the officer is in the vehicle, though you’d probably want to forgo that option in the interest of comfort.
From Ford:
Once activated, the vehicle’s powertrain and climate control systems work together automatically to elevate passenger compartment temperatures. The software warms up the engine to an elevated level, and both heat and fan settings operate on high. The software automatically monitors interior temperatures until the entire passenger compartment hits the optimal level, then that temperature is maintained for 15 minutes.
To research the effectiveness of this sanitization method, Ford worked closely with The Ohio State University to determine the temperature and time duration needed to help inactivate the COVID-19 virus.
After the 15 minutes is up, during which the vehicle locks its doors and turns on its flashers, the system vents the hot air and cranks the A/C, putting the vehicle back in business in a hurry. On 2016 and newer models, an officer can activate the system by pushing the cruise control buttons in a certain manner. Older models will require a technician plugging in to the vehicle’s diagnostics port to get the operation underway. This is a system you don’t want to be too easy to activate.
“You certainly don’t want it to be something that gets activated accidentally so it is a complicated enough cycle that you’d have to be paying attention to what you’re doing to, to get it to start,” Bill Gubing, Ford’s director of passenger vehicles and SUVs, told CNN.
Should the system activate with someone in the vehicle, any input from the occupant (such as moving the steering wheel) will shut the thing off.
Ford says large, well equipped police departments will be capable of installing the software themselves, while smaller outfits will need to tap a dealer service center. The system went on a trial shakedown cruise via several departments across the U.S. before its roll-out, though the automaker specifically mentions the New York City Police Department as asking for such a solution. The system can’t stop droplet ejection from an infected person’s mouth — and indeed this is the primary cause of coronavirus transmission — so the new self-cleaning system remains a nice-to-have, not a cure-all.
Ford claims it’s working on delivering the feature to other models.

Didn’t one of these just get it’s back window smashed out on Minneapolis?
Yea, it was getting too hot.
Comment of the year!
The rioters in down town Los Angeles weren’t satisfied with denting cop cars and breaking the glass so last night they burned a few….
Truly were are the land of fruits, nuts and flakes .
-Nate
Yep. The hypocritical rioters who have no idea why they’re rioting decided to destroy public property including several police vehicles.
Typical Minneapolis. But as long as they had their (ineffective) corona cold masks on the man child mayor won’t care. Heck he’d encourage it along with the failed presidential candidate, the activist AG of Minnesota, and the blow hard governor.
This has been your Fox News minute, brought to you by the AARP…
^^ Lol :) ^^
How is that Fox News?
“How is that Fox News?”
Fox learned a long time ago that the most profitable approach is to hold up a mirror and reflect what is in the hearts and minds of its viewers.
Manipulating and feeding confirmational bias is much more profitable than telling the truth.
Fox News manipulating and feeding the confirmational biases of old, poor, ignorant, Caucasians since 1996. Best thing Mike Bloomberg could do is buy them and shut them down. Yes, a real billinaire.
I’m in Minneapolis. The PD here knows FAR better after a string of recent very public deaths and issues. No sympathy for the MPLS PD. There have been MANY well publicized events before this. They got what they deserved, and should have known was coming.
Mark your calendars. I’m going to agree with one of EBFlex’s points.
The Minneapolis Mayor is mishandling the situation. He’s a poor leader that has not reached the needed maturity level for his position.
On the other hand, the Police Chief is handling it quite well.
Just luv ya EB, I’m with you all the waaaaay!
When commenting, picture yourself being invited to a dinner party.
I can’t imagine most of the flat-earth devotees ever being invited to a dinner party.
The only “parties” they go to involve hoods and crosses
Well, maybe I went too far. I’m sure EB’s mom invites him to a dinner party every night. All he has to do is answer the dinner bell and emerge from the basement. Thank God for Mom, right?
Ralph Northam is one of yours, just like the entire KKK was the militant arm of the Democratic party of Robert Byrd, Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton.
Firstly, that was never true (though there was undoubtedly some overlap of membership at one time – a very long time ago). Secondly, it’s not 1880 any more. Thirdly, the party political alignment of segregationists and other white supremacists has changed dramatically since LBJ got the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act passed – can you say “Southern Strategy”?
Oh, and let’s not forget those “fine people” who travelled to Charlottesville…
You are a liar. Was FDR a conservative? Was Robert Byrd the leader of the Democratic party in the 1880s? Does anyone in the Democrat party try to stop Margaret Sanger’s grand design to murder black and immigrant babies, or do they hold it up as a virtue? You’ve placed your bet that there’s not a God or an afterlife by serving evil. Good luck.
bobby, the rally has started, so you better get going. Those crosses aren’t going to burn themselves
I’d mention that the Democrats kicked all the cross-burners out about the same time the Beatles put out “Sgt. Pepper,” but that won’t matter to bobby, our newest dingbat troll.
Derp…derp…derp
But ol’ bobby’s just another in the series of TTAC troll-bots…seen ’em all, they go when they figure they can get more attention somewhere else, or when they finally say something so stupid that they get banned. Enjoy your path, bobby…it’s well trod.
Margaret Sanger is the ultimate genocidal white supremacist and the Pedocrats still prostrate themselves before her memory every election while carrying out her plans. Democrat Ralph Blackface McKlanhood Northam is the current governor of Virginia, but you tell yourself the same old lies about a pivot under LBJ. The same LBJ who said things I can’t repeat here about how he was going to manipulate black voters.
Well, Sanger and the KKK arm of the Democratic party have one thing in common: they died around 55 years ago. LBJ wasn’t far behind.
Next?
Hahahahaha!
Little bobby trying to make an argument against Democrats. Now that’s funny
Was 1994 prior to the pivot? That’s when your current presidential candidate, Racial Jungle Joe Biden and your last presidential candidate, Superpredators Hillary Clinton put together the Violent Crime and Law Enforcement Act that criminalized being a young black man in the US and exploded prison populations. Keep lying to yourself so you can go along to get along with fascists though.
Well, I guess bobby won’t be voting for Biden, then. Good thing he cleared that up for us.
Next?
“bobbysirhan’s” writing style is oddly familiar.
“ I can’t imagine most of the flat-earth devotees ever being invited to a dinner party.“
So it’s reasonable to assume that you’re a halfway decent cook then?
“ I can’t imagine most of the flat-earth devotees ever being invited to a dinner party.“
So it’s reasonable to assume that you’re a halfway decent cook then?
Ummm… Looks like @EBFlucked just paid @FreedMike a compliment.
I know facts aren’t your thing (like the earth is round, water is wet, that kind of thing) but I actually asked him a question. I never stated he was a halfway decent cook.
Reading and comprehending is fun isn’t it?
“water is wet”
Not when it is a solid.
You can get steam pretty dry if it its hot enough.
“So it’s reasonable to assume that you’re a halfway decent cook then?” Said begrudgingly, even in a left-handed manner but most of us would take that as a weak compliment. Your community college should have some writing and logic courses. It’s never too late.
“Said begrudgingly, even in a left-handed manner but most of us would take that as a weak compliment.”
And there are a lot of flat earthers too. Doesn’t make you right
Flexy, no one will come to your help. Hygiene also includes how you interact with other people. Since the subtle and more advanced parts are lost on you, we have doubt if you get the basics.
“ Flexy, no one will come to your help. Hygiene also includes how you interact with other people. Since the subtle and more advanced parts are lost on you, we have doubt if you get the basics.”
A lot of projection in your posts.
…and even more in yours.
Lol…all these years all I had to do was pick the correct news Network to be “smart”. Silly me…I’ve been judging by things like education and mainly how much someone was willing to pay me for my time. Would have been way easier to just parrot stuff from a chosen news Network.
What if we’re having a TV dinner?
Murder Mobiles
“Ford has a solution that, while not great for the environment, will at least bring peace of mind to law enforcement officers.”
Government parasites always exempt themselves from the environmental restrictions that they impose on the smallfolk.
What are the environmental restrictions regarding the use of the HVAC system in a vehicle?
In South Texas, leaving a black-painted vehicle outside in the summer sun, will actually go above 133F on its own.
Back when vehicles still had Cassette players, one had to double check that no Cassette had been left inside the player, because the shell would warp and the player would require removal and opening to dislodge it.
@schmitt trigger – I’ve had to worry about the opposite. Stuff freezing in place.
This recirculating heat setting would be nice in the Great White North.
Wow, I’ve had cassettes (and CDs) melt if I left them out in the sun in a hot car, but never *in* the player.
Not actually melt, but distort enough such that the ejection mechanism gets stuck.
Didn’t happen every single day, but definitively in the “dog days” of summer, the possibility of losing your treasured Creedence Clearwater Revival cassette was very high.
Damn, schmitt, that’s a new one on me.
I’ve had a cassette case warp when left on the dashboard of a hot car, but not the cassette itself.
I do specifically remember an early ’80s BMW dealer warning my mom and me not to insert a cassette into the stereo if the interior of the car was hot. Per his explanation, this was to spare the heads and the tape, not because the cassette would warp. Mind you, this was before BMW upped its HVAC game, so it could be an annoying wait for the car to cool off.
I assume it’s apocryphal, but I enjoyed the story that at some point later in the ’80s, Munich was getting more and more complaints about weak a/c as sales increased in North America. Supposedly, two engineers responded along the lines of, “Zere ees nothing wrong veeth zeese air konditioning! Die Amerikaner are girly-men!” Their bosses responded by forcing them to do a summer road trip across Texas in an E30 or E28 that had had its windows sealed.
@ schmitt trigger – Good call. Though not new music, CHRONICLE, VOL. 1 was a classic cassette of the Tape Decks in Cars Era.
Yep, “Chronicle” was in my tape case, circa 1987!
@eeeby When the video of a cop killing a handcuffed black man by choking him to death people have a good idea why and what they’re rioting about. Four of the cops have joined the ranks of the unemployed you’re so very worried about. Perhaps you’ll figure out that being a decent person that people enjoy being around greatly increases your chances of being employed and staying employed.
Did you know that one of those young COVID patients that a Democrat governor sent to a Michigan nursing home to murder seniors by spreading the disease to the most vulnerable in order to keep the sheep in line with the pandemic narrative used his fists instead? I suppose as a good Nazi you won’t comprehend it. At the end of the day, most of the people who die at the hands of cops are white. Five times as many whites are killed by blacks as vice versa, but most victims of black violence are black. Distracting from that fact isn’t helping anyone who cares about actually helping people.
Bobby, do go have another cocktail and let the grown-ups talk
There’s a good boy
It must be a shame to waste most of your life spreading ignorance, but at least you’re maintaining your denial in the face of your idiocy destroying the economy and killing your peers. Way to go! So sad that you don’t like me.
Run along, bobby, President Tweety just posted a bunch of stupid stuff for you to drool over
With comebacks like that, I suppose I should be grateful that you took some time away from competitive rap battling to reply to me.
It’s awesome that they cannot come up with a sound, reasonable retort that uses logic and critical thinking. Instead they show how smart they are by name calling.
They should be late night TV hosts.
Nurse!
They’re on the computer again and I think they broke into the meds cabinet too
@EB: “name calling,” as in this dingbat calling people who disagree with him “Nazis”?
@Bobby I have. A simple test for this. That is, had I acted in thisanner dealing with John Q. Iraqi or Susie Afghani, would I be at Leavenworth. The answer here is yes.
Is it too much to ask that minorities or anyone dealing with law enforcement in this country be granted the same rights and courtesy granted to folks encountered on a battlefield?
Deadly force is authorized to counter a threat of deadly force and any force should be at a level only high enough to subdue a threat? Is a handcuffed dude a threat anymore?
You don’t get to get your licks in because he made you chase him or because he threw a punch at you or even if he shot at you after the threat is subdued. It sucks sometimes, but that isn’t their lane.
Art, this is the US NOT Iraq. The white cop/black man problems run deep and far back. Coming from Alabama you should know that better then anyone
I agree…it is not Iraq. That is why I am troubled that police officers seemingly have a lower threshold for the use of deadly force on Americans than our ROE allowed for in Iraq. The Rules of Engagement that cops seem to operate under seem to be the Wild West compared to ours. Deadly force is a response to deadly force only.
You see videos where someone gets blasted by a cop for “non compliance” when they are clearly not a threat.
That is a charge you tack on. Cops don’t get to be judge and jury. Our ROE was you could only kill someone to stop the immediate threat of him killing you and even if they had fired 100 rounds at you, once they were out of the fight and no longer a threat, it was over. You didn’t get to shoot them. You processed them as POWs and you got in trouble if you handled it otherwise. Deadly force only. Non compliance is not an excuse to shoot someone unless their non compliance involves a threart of deadly force.
It’s a crap deal because if someone just tried to blow you up every instinct is to at least give them a butt stroke to the face on the way out, but that’s not how it works.
Cops should be the same. I don’t care what happened before…that dude was no threat at the time and there was no reason to sit on his chest.
Also, if I had an EPW (Enemy Prisoner of War) that required medical attention, we were compelled to give it to them. If he said “I can’t breathe” and I sat on their chest…that’s a trip to Leavenworth for me. Cops should be handled the same.
You are a law enforcement officer, not a jury
I saw a video recently of 2 cops shooting a man for calmly backing out of a parking space as they approach from the sides.
He wasn’t even given a chance to put it in Drive and sorta head in their direction (that they would’ve put themselves in).
Dead on scene, usual (COPSPLAING) excuses and nothing comes of it.
@Art, I had to read your post carefully to be sure you weren’t making sense by discussing what is being done to seniors in nursing homes at the mercy of Democrat regimes. Worrying about blacks who die at the hands of cops is like worrying about babies being killed by poor hygiene at Planned Parenthood abattoirs. It happens, but that’s not even the tip of the iceberg. If you want to help blacks, promote pro-family policies instead of rewarding single motherhood financially. Everything else is a distraction from how Democrats keep their voters dependent.
Hi, little bobby, Hannity is over I see and you’re back loaded down with more useless bullsh!t
Sorry Bobby…It is not OK for Cops to murder people because statistically id doesn’t happen very often. OJ Simpson doesn’t kill his Ex Wives very often either.
Using your logic it would be OK to smack my wife around because “have you seen what the Taliban does to women”. Your logic is idiotic.
@Bobby Kennedy –
“Five times as many whites are killed by blacks as vice versa”
That is a rather disingenuous factoid. Saying that more whites are killed is numerically true but is like saying the USA is great at testing for COVID-19 because numerically it has tested more people than Greenland.
2019 statistics.
Whites are 72.4% of population = 237.6 million with 370 killed by police
Blacks are 12.7% of population = 41.7 million with 235 killed by police
Hispanics are 17.8% of population = 58.4 million with 158 killed by police
1/1,000 black males will be killed by police in their lifetimes.
39/100,000 white males will be killed by police in their lifetimes.
It is ironic that you chose to close your post with this comment, “Distracting from that fact isn’t helping anyone who cares about actually helping people.”
“ When the video of a cop killing a handcuffed black man by choking him to death people have a good idea why and what they’re rioting about.”
Except you have no idea how he died. The autopsy and/or cause of death has not been released.
What has been released is that his place of death is 701 Park Av in Minneapolis. At Hennepin County Medical Center. Not 38th and Chicago where he was picked up. So for 30 blocks he had advanced life support care plus a slew of doctors attending to him immediately upon arrival at HCMC Yet he died at the hospital…without a knee detaining him.
Makes you wonder.
Remember how the Boy Who Cried Wolf was ultimately eaten by a wolf because he had destroyed his own credibility? What is it about Marxist puppets that makes them believe lies more deeply the more times that they’re fooled? It’s like they all aspire to being Charlie Brown flying through the air when Lucy pulls the ball away yet again.
yeah, amazing even after 18,000 proven lies in the past 3ish years. you figure the cletuses and karens would have learned by now but im sure hubris plays a large part.
I feel bad for them, being as lacking in integrity as they are in intelligence. Their idiocy is imposing too high a price of late though.
Hahahahaha!
You worship the most deplorable man on earth and you call us idiots
https://www.dumb.as.a.box.of.rocks
It could be worse. I could still be talking about Fox News after spending three years having CNN and MSNBC make fools of their viewers by lying about Russian Collusion every day. That had to hurt. I’m embarrassed for you. And why do you think I worship George Soros?
I have no idea who bob-o worships, but clearly the list includes his own fragile wittle ego, which needs constant attention, lest it wither and die. And what better way to get it than Keyboard Warring?
Hi, little bobby, how ya doin’ without those AA meetings to go to? Oh, not so good, huh?
bobby doesn’t need AA…he needs a mom. Badly.
Wonder about what? People already on the brink of death don’t usually require wrestling to the ground, cuffed and have someone stand on their neck just to be put into police custody or medical ward.
Where they’re pronounced dead is irrelevant. Car crash victims that show no signs of life are normally ambulanced away to reopen road, clear the scene and send the cops to other calls, home, etc, instead of having the coroner come out, join them and set up shop there for a day.
There was no CPR performed by the cops either. Obviously the dead don’t sue.
A quick study of the respiratory system would suggest that pressure on the side of the neck would not cut off airflow, especially if the pressure is light enough that the subject can move his head. Also, when you say “I can’t breath”, you can breath. If anything was making it difficult to breath, it is likely the pressure on his chest, not his neck.
I’m not a medical examiner, just another internet fool. We really need to wait to see the results of the examination.
I’m not defending the officer. He was an idiot and I’m OK with his firing, but the presumptions about the cause of death by the masses are misguided.
“I can’t breath” is a sensation. Ever have the wind knocked out of you?
A knee to the side of the neck might not affect the trachea but it could put sufficient pressure on the external carotid to affect the brain if there are blood flow issues in the other vessels.
There are multiple factors that could make the fellow say, “I can’t breath”. The stress of an “excessive force” take down could easily trigger a lethal event in a person with a preexisting condition i.e. cardiovascular disease.
Tragically we have a case of excessive force with a death and to make matters worse, a black man.
He died of police. The rest is splitting hairs.
If he had overly fragile neck bones, respiratory, cardio, etc, that’s still on the cops. Watch how his head flops around when they’re loading him on to the gurney. It’s disturbing.
Please record all police activity. We’re 9 times more likely to be killed by cops than terrorists.
DenverMike, You are 1000 to 2000 times more likely to be killed by your doctor than you are by a police officer.
I’m not going down that rabbit hole. Cops are paid to protect us, that’s it.
When the public fears the cops, that’s tyranny.
When cops fear the public, that’s Liberty.
You’re not going down the rabbit hole? Have an issue with confronted with real numbers?
Cops do protect us. Doctors try to heal us. They’re both generally awesome (one gets paid a lot more).
If you look at deaths where there was a claim of malpractice vs deaths involving police officers (even with no claim of wrongdoing), the ratio is about 1000:1. Take into account claims of wrongdoing by police and the ratio is even wider.
As much as the media feeds off of police involved deaths, most do an incredible job of not killing people.
It’s a stupid comparison. Criminal cops, violating the US Constitution, stepping all over people’s rights, murdering, injuring, falsely arresting, ruining people’s career/rep, basic thug behavior, they can be stopped/fired/prosecuted with enough civilian, FBI, committee, etc, oversight and cameras/audio monitoring their every move while at work.
Cops don’t have a right to privacy (other than covert investigation) or a cloak of secrecy .
To bad cops, cameras are like a light switch to cockroaches.
I was simply responding to your statement about how often police kill people.
As for this particular incident, I already criticized the officer involved.
I agree, concerning bad cops. Expose them, but let’s not stereotype all officers based on those idiots.
When did I “stereotype all officers”? I specifically singled out “bad cops” and “criminal cops”.
You called the officers involved “idiots”. Can you expand on that?
The chief of police simply refused to comment on the case, as that’s obviously the right call. Is that what you meant by him “handling it quite well”?
Except he had not yet viewed the “body cam” footage (as of the press conference). Is that from a lack of concern? Is he more concerned with officer safety than public safety?
If it’s a department-wide problem that needs to change or get fixed, why wait any longer?
@Brn:
It’s bad enough when a doctor screws up and someone dies (which they *can* be held criminally liable for under certain circumstances), but they’re not on the taxpayer’s payroll. Cops are. That makes the outrage over stuff like this that much louder, and I’d say that makes sense.
That comparison of cops to doctors is brilliant. Fecking brilliant.
Is there some sort of right wing nutsopedia that you guys pull this stuff from?
I don’t recall ever seeing a Doctor shoot someone or ever see 4 Doctors beat down a patient.
Mistakes get made which is totally different than 4 cops on a handcuffed dude on the ground.
“Except you have no idea how he died. The autopsy and/or cause of death has not been released.”
Maybe @ebflex, but I’ve seen the video and their is frankly more evidence against them than Casey Anthony, OJ, and Hillary in the whole Benghazi bit so I’m not inclined to cut them slack.
Plus, they get fired. When a non Cop does something like this the getting fired is generally something that happens as a result of you going to prison…not part of the punishment.
@ebflucked – “So for 30 blocks he had advanced life support care plus a slew of doctors attending to him immediately upon arrival at HCMC Yet he died at the hospital”
Paramedics have tight parameters as to when they can stop advanced life support. They also can’t “pronounce death”. If a person is receiving advanced life support it is because the person cannot sustain life on their own. Cardiac arrest resuscitation doesn’t usually last longer than 30 minutes. If you don’t get someone back in that time, the odds are you won’t.
It is common for the lawyers of murderers to poor over medical records so they can argue that the cause of death was due to medical malpractice and not their client’s actions.
Once again, you show that you are ignorant!
EB logic:
The guy didn’t have a knee detaining him when he died, so the knee couldn’t possibly have been the cause of death.
By the same logic:
A guy got wheeled into the ER with a gaping stab would, but there was no knife in there, so the knife couldn’t possibly have caused the wound.
Okey dokey…
I’m normally somewhat skeptical of all the “cops automatically hate black people” rhetoric, as sometimes, the suspect is not proven to have been as innocent as portrayed in the media or by the modern-day Jessie Jacksons of the world. (Sorry, my age is showing a bit. And note that I said SOMETIMES! No torches, please!)
However, if this Twin Cities case isn’t a clear, slam-dunk case of police brutality, I have no feckin’ CLUE what would be!!
Cuff the man’s hands and feet, then place him face-up on a paddy-wagon floor if necessary!
Why wasn’t there more than one cop there to detain the man? COVID-19 fears? I read there were four that responded, and none of them spoke up!
I agree, sgeffe, I’ve learned to step back from about 95% of these police brutality cases until all the facts are in. The exception was the guy who got shot in the back while *running away* from the cops. How that cop isn’t doing three life terms for that is a mystery to me.
But at a bare minimum, the cop in this case is clearly guilty of gross negligence.
Nice troll-fest I enjoyed by skipping it.
It’s just EB and little bobby, hardly worth the effort. Hannity just came on so they’ll probably go now
Just because trolls have a viewpoint you may share, it doesn’t mean they aren’t trolls.
EBFlex is in my personal ignore list as a Ford hater. So I have no idea what he is talking about.
Either does he
“So I have no idea what he is talking about.”
That’s my typical response WHEN I read his posts.
I wish there was an “ignore” button…trolls like EB and bobby get a nice little sugar rush from just having people tell them to p*ss off, and when you say something monumentally stupid – which they do about 34 times a day – they get told to p*ss off a lot. To them, it’s proof of how smart they are. They do it because their fragile wittle egos got injured by something way back when. It’s an attention seeking behavior, and because it’s done over the Internet, it’s “safe” – it they did this in public to other people, they’d end up one of those “shouting crazy person” videos on Youtube.
If they’re ignored, they move on to greener pastures.
Thank Allah for the end of daily prayers will be ending shortly, since it’s blaring away 5x a day….sheesh
I wonder how many suspects, will be left in the car while the cop grabs ‘ a donut and coffee’? Then activates it.
Flat Earth: The curvature of the planet (oblate spheroid maybe?) is roughly 0.028″ over the length of a 2021 Suburban. Yet GM forms the frames as if the earth were flat. So backward.
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/earth-is-not-round/
[And the claim that they use fluid to bend steel? Yeah, right.]
The extra ground clearance of the Suburban more then compensates for the curvature of the earth. Of course that only works in Nebraska where the earth is so flat it started a movement ;-)
@toolguy – have you ever been on the prairies where it is basically billiard table flat and come to an odd 90 degree turn that then a 90 back in the exact direction you were traveling?
The sections of land were mapped on the premise that the earth was flat. Those angles are to compensate.
That right there is interesting – thanks!

Will this 15-minute period of high heat in the sealed cabin of an Explorer speed up the decay of the plastic bits and pieces in there? Will there be a run on some of the crappy pieces in the Ford dealer’s parts department soon?
They get a lot more than 15 minutes in some parts of the country, and much higher heat.
What I don’t get is whether this code already exists in the HVAC module or is flashed in during the update.
Makes me shudder to think what else is hidden in the code of the various computers in the car, waiting to be activated!
I knew I needed to take that tinfoil hat in to be adjusted! But then between the ’rona and the black helicopter circling outside…!
Cool ~ now all they need is a system to clean up those little yellow things in the back of most patrol cars…..

Good to see some here are not crazy whackos….
